…. And Jesus said, “Feed My Sheep.”
In 1983, a small group of concerned Christians planted a seed of hope for hungry and needy persons in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Through countless hours of prayer and work, and with the cooperation of hundreds of individuals and organizations, today this seed has matured into one of the most valuable of programs for the homeless and home-bound in the State of Mississippi. Feed My Sheep is a non-judgmental, faith-based program dedicated to providing nourishment to the homeless, home-bound and needy in the Gulfport area. In the beginning, the program fed approximately 20 homeless persons a noon meal. Today, they serve 500 meals per day from the Gaston Point Recreation Center. In addition, volunteers using their own vehicles deliver approximately 100 meals per day to home-bound persons. They also serve as a collection and distribution service for donated items of clothing. Even though there is no “structured religious element” of the Feed My Sheep program, the Christian Spirit is alive and well in everything they do. When Jesus instructed his disciples to "feed My sheep,” he not only meant physical nourishment, but also spiritual nourishment. Feed My Sheep is prepared to provide this spiritual nourishment to those in need. These services are provided on a “no questions asked” basis. H. Gordon Myrick, Inc. is proud to support the Feed My Sheep program through monetary donations and volunteer meal delivery. Feed My Sheep receives no local, state, or federal funds. They survive on the donations of individuals, churches, companies and organizations that share concern for those in need. The people that make the program work are all volunteers. If you feel led to donate financially or volunteer your time, please contact Joe Steinwinder at 228-867-2284, or write the Gulf Coast Christian Life Center at P.O. Box 6883, Gulfport, MS 39506.
